13

'Got it, we'll help you get daily personalized insights.' A quick echo screen that confirms their answer and reframes it as a promise. Cheap to build, and it makes the quiz feel like it's actually listening.

Single-select on 'main reason for wanting daily insights.' Fine as single since you're forcing a priority, but watch the drop: some people want two of these and will hesitate on being boxed in.

18

Date of birth, framed as needed for 'sun sign, numerology and compatibility.' Core input for an astrology app, and it doubles as age capture. Tying the ask to a benefit beats a bare form field.

Nebula onboarding screen 19: Time of birth with a 'don't know' option

19

Time of birth with a 'don't know' option. Smart, because exact birth time is something most people can't recall, and without the escape hatch you'd lose them right here. The 'don't know' keeps the flow moving.

20

Nebula onboarding screen 21: Place of birth pre-filled from the device ('Charlotte, NC')

21

Place of birth pre-filled from the device ('Charlotte, NC'). One less thing to type on a friction-heavy field. Autofill here lifts completion.

Nebula onboarding screen 22: 'Do you want to get guidance from horoscopes?' with a big YES button

22

'Do you want to get guidance from horoscopes?' with a big YES button. A yes/no micro-commitment dressed as a question. Almost nobody taps No, and the tap itself raises buy-in for the feature before they've seen it priced.

Nebula onboarding screen 23: A review slotted right after the horoscope question: '91% of our users reported horoscopes help them prepare…

23

A review slotted right after the horoscope question: '91% of our users reported horoscopes help them prepare for life challenges' with a 5-star quote. They interleave social proof with the quiz so the proof lands exactly when you're deciding if the feature matters. The asterisk ('internal survey, 1,000 participants') is the honesty fig leaf.

Nebula onboarding screen 24: Name plus gender on one screen

24

Name plus gender on one screen. The name gets reused downstream ('Jacob, achieve all your goals') to personalize the paywall lead-ins. Collecting it mid-quiz feels natural versus a cold form.

27

'Understand yourself better,' then 'do you want personalized insights?' Same yes/no pattern as the horoscope screen. They walk you through each premium feature one at a time and get a yes on each, so the paywall later feels like stuff you already said you wanted.

Nebula onboarding screen 28: Another review (88% find birth charts helpful, Lucas Davis, 5 stars) right after the birth-chart yes/no

28

Another review (88% find birth charts helpful, Lucas Davis, 5 stars) right after the birth-chart yes/no. The pattern is consistent: feature question, then proof for that exact feature. Repeated enough that it stacks into a wall of credibility across the funnel.

29

Nebula onboarding screen 30: Relationship status

30

Relationship status. Pure segmentation for a compatibility app: single vs married vs complicated routes the content and sets up the compatibility upsell later.

36

Full Nebula Premium feature list ('Unlock everything') dropped in the middle of onboarding, well before the paywall. They're priming you on what premium is so the price later isn't the first time you hear about it. Also risky, since showing the wall this early can spook people. Worth testing whether it helps or hurts conversion.

37

Horoscope reminder time picker, 'don't miss a thing, get your daily horoscope at...' Picking a time is a small commitment to a daily habit, and it sets up the notification permission ask on the next screen with a reason already in place.

Nebula onboarding screen 39: Notification permission prompt fired right after they picked a reminder time

39

Notification permission prompt fired right after they picked a reminder time. Asking in context (you just said you want daily horoscopes) beats a cold system prompt. This is how you protect opt-in rate.

40

Nebula onboarding screen 41: 'How did you hear about Nebula?' Marketing attribution dressed as a quiz step

41

'How did you hear about Nebula?' Marketing attribution dressed as a quiz step. Cheap way to get self-reported channel data at scale, and it has a Skip so it doesn't cost completion.

Nebula onboarding screen 42: 'Almost there, Jacob, achieve all your goals.' Without Nebula vs With Nebula side by side

42

'Almost there, Jacob, achieve all your goals.' Without Nebula vs With Nebula side by side. Loss-aversion framing right before the ask: the left column is the bad feelings (not ready, doubts), the right is the payoff. Personalized with your name.

43

Account creation lands here, deep in the flow, framed as 'create an account to save your progress.' Pinning it to saving the work they just did is the right move: they've invested 30+ taps, so signing up to not lose it is easy. Earlier signup would've cost more dropout.

54

55

Phone number capture after the email signup, 'we use this to verify and secure your account.' Aggressive, since a phone number is a high-friction ask and the real goal is probably an SMS marketing channel. Good that there's a Skip, but I'd test whether this screen earns the drop it causes.

56

57

'Creating your profile' loading screen that counts up while rotating 5-star testimonials and '60 million users have chosen Nebula.' The fake-work delay makes the personalization feel earned, and they fill the dead time with social proof instead of a blank spinner.

69

Main paywall: three tiers, weekly ($7.99/wk after a 3-day trial), 3 months ($39.99), and yearly ($49.99) defaulted. The weekly price is the anchor, annualized it's over $400, which makes the $49.99 yearly read as a steal. 'Hot deal' badge up top. The trial sits only on the weekly tier, so the trial is optional, not forced.

72

Nebula onboarding screen 73: Same paywall, header rotated to psychics ('readings from qualified psychics')

73

Same paywall, header rotated to psychics ('readings from qualified psychics'). They cycle the value-prop headline while the pricing stays fixed, so the offer re-sells itself against whatever feature you cared about. Cheap way to test which hook lands.

82

Alternate paywall: the 3-day trial timeline (Today / In 2 days / In 3 days you'll be charged) with $49.99 struck through to $39.99/year. This one defaults to annual-with-trial, and the timeline reduces the 'when do I get charged' anxiety that kills trial starts. The strikethrough anchors the discount.

83

84

Nebula onboarding screen 85: Post-paywall home: the daily horoscope plus 'did you like your horoscope

85

Post-paywall home: the daily horoscope plus 'did you like your horoscope? rate it' and a 'customize your feed' card. Asking for a rating right after delivering value catches sentiment at its peak, good for App Store reviews. And they point you at a next action instead of dumping you on a blank dashboard.

Nebula onboarding screen 86: 'Almost there' loss-aversion screen reappears as the lead-in to another paywall pass

86

'Almost there' loss-aversion screen reappears as the lead-in to another paywall pass. The back half of this flow is basically a loop of exit screen then paywall. Since most people never buy on the first wall, re-presenting it makes sense, but this many repeats risks annoyance. Worth testing how many passes actually pay off.
