Lingokids onboarding screen 11: The 'parents only, enter your year of birth' gate

11

The 'parents only, enter your year of birth' gate. Standard kids-app move to keep children out of purchase and settings, and COPPA-friendly. It also quietly confirms an adult is the one looking at the paywall.

Lingokids onboarding screen 17: Notification permission and the new/existing account choice both fire here

17

Notification permission and the new/existing account choice both fire here. The system prompt has no primer in front of it, so they're spending the one notification ask with no benefit framing. A line like 'we'll send your kid's progress updates' before the prompt would lift the allow rate.

Two paths: 'Personalize my kid's playtime' or 'Play now.' The skip-to-play option respects parents who just want the kid occupied, but it lets people bypass the personalization that makes the later paywall relevant. I'd track how many take Play now and whether they convert worse.

Age of the kid, framed as 'we'll show them the most exciting games for their age.' The question is sold as a benefit to the child, not data collection, and age is the single most useful input for content in a kids app.

Lingokids onboarding screen 21: Multi-select on focus areas, which is right since most parents want more than one

21

Multi-select on focus areas, which is right since most parents want more than one. Good zero-party data. The miss is they never echo it back: the paywall after is generic, so 'you picked Math and Science, here's what Plus unlocks' is left on the table.

Lingokids onboarding screen 22: Now the paywall is annual at $74.99 with a free week, fired right after the quiz

22

Now the paywall is annual at $74.99 with a free week, fired right after the quiz. Moving from the monthly-default opener to an annual default here is smart, since the quiz buys enough commitment to push the bigger plan. Awards laurels sit up top again for the parent.

26

Hit dismiss and you get a second offer: 'Lingokids Plus for free, 7 days.' It's the same free week reworded as a limited-time gift, not an actual discount. Most people don't buy on the first paywall, so a softer re-ask catches some. I'd test making this one genuinely different, like a longer trial, since repeating the same offer reads as pushy.

Lingokids paywall with pricing, onboarding screen 30

30

The structured paywall: yearly highlighted with a 61% off badge, $191.88 struck through to $74.99 ($6.25/month), monthly below at $15.99. Anchoring the annual against the monthly run-rate makes $6.25 feel small. Both plans carry a free week, so the choice is plan size, not whether to trial.

31

Account creation lands here, after the kid has played and the quiz is done, framed as 'sign up to get progress updates' rather than 'create an account.' Pushing signup this deep cuts dropout, and tying it to a parent benefit (their achievements, tips) gives a reason to hand over the email.

From here the 'Save 61%' paywall rides on top of the actual content: addition games, a space quest, screen time controls, progress reports, downloads. Each locked screen shows the specific thing Plus unlocks, so the ask is attached to a feature the parent just reached instead of a generic wall.
