Clean single promise: understand the key ideas from nonfiction bestsellers and podcasts, curated for you. No signup gate, just 'Get started.' Leading with the outcome before asking for anything is the right way to open.

Login sits in the secondary slot and the main CTA is 'Tell us your interests,' so new users get pushed into value instead of a signup wall. There's no forced account creation anywhere in this flow, which is good for completion. The tradeoff is you capture intent without an identity, so re-engagement later is harder.

Step 1 of 3 with a progress bar up top. Broad interest buckets ('Money & Economics,' 'Career & Business') are zero-party data they can echo back in recommendations and the paywall. The progress bar sets up a goal gradient that nudges people to finish.

Round two of interest tagging, now granular ('productivity,' 'philosophy,' 'communication skills'). Two interest screens back to back risks fatigue. I'd test collapsing this into one and getting people to the title swiper faster, since that's the part that's actually fun.

Blinkist onboarding screen 9: This is the good one

This is the good one. 'Does this title interest you?' with thumbs up/down on real books like 12 Rules For Life. It's Tinder for books: a micro-commitment that feels like play, builds a library before the wall, and raises buy-in. Headway runs the card-swipe too, but tying each swipe to titles they'll actually save is sharp.
