First screen is just the consent line, 'by tapping Continue you agree to our terms.' No account, no email, no signup anywhere in this flow. They want you moving with zero friction and defer identity entirely. Highest intent is right now, and every field you add here leaks it.

'#1 plant app,' cited to Sensor Tower. Leading with a category-leader claim plus a real source does two jobs at once: credibility, and positioning before you've seen a single feature.
Picturethis onboarding screen 9: 'Know any plant in seconds9
'Know any plant in seconds. Snap a photo and get instant answers.' Value stated as speed, which is exactly this app's job. Benefit over feature.
Picturethis onboarding screen 10: 'Keep your plants thriving' with personalized watering and light tips10
'Keep your plants thriving' with personalized watering and light tips. The second card shifts from identify to care, which widens the reason to stay past a one-time lookup.

'Discover plants wherever you go, explore 400,000 plants worldwide.' The big number is doing the credibility work here.

'Know what's wrong with your plant, diagnose problems instantly.' Diagnosis is the higher-value, higher-anxiety use case. Saving a dying plant is worth more than naming a healthy one, and that framing supports the price later.

'#1 in accuracy for 6 years, backed by Michigan State University.' Third-party research as the trust anchor. For a tool whose whole value is being right, accuracy is the correct thing to prove.

The comparison bar: 57% vs other plant apps, sourced to a 2024 MSU review. A direct 'we're more accurate than the competition' chart. Thin if the source is weak, strong if it holds up.
Picturethis onboarding screen 16: 'Loved by 100M plant lovers.' A round, huge number right before the reviews screen and the first paywall16
'Loved by 100M plant lovers.' A round, huge number right before the reviews screen and the first paywall. Scale, then testimonials, then price. The order is deliberate.
Picturethis onboarding screen 17: App Store and Google Play Editor's Choice badges plus a long, real-sounding review17
App Store and Google Play Editor's Choice badges plus a long, real-sounding review. Awards plus a specific story beat a star rating alone. Apple made the laurels such a positive association that they carry weight even though anyone can style them.

'Design your trial' before you've identified a single plant. Two options: $0.99 for one month, or 7 days free then $39.99/yr. 'No payment now' and 'remind me before the trial ends' lower the risk. The cheap monthly sits next to the annual as an anchor, but the free-trial annual is the one they want. Firing the trial ask this early, before any value, is aggressive.

Notification permission stacked on the trial sheet, framed as 'remind me before the trial ends.' The reason to allow notifications is your own money, not their engagement. That gets a higher opt-in than a generic 'stay updated.'

Picturethis onboarding screen 22: 'We've prepared a plant for you22
'We've prepared a plant for you. Try identifying this plant to see how quick and easy PictureThis is.' After pushing the trial, they finally let you feel the product. This demo should probably run before the paywall, not after it.
Picturethis onboarding screen 23: 'Tap to identify23
'Tap to identify. Want to know which plant this is? Tap here.' A single guided tap. One micro-commitment, no typing, and it forces engagement instead of another swipe-through card.

'Searching in PictureThis 400k plant database.' The scan animation dramatizes the work and reinforces the 400k number again. Same move as a personalization loading screen: show the effort to justify the value.

The payoff: it names the plant (Frangipani, Plumeria rubra) with the scientific and common names. This is the aha moment. Fast, specific, correct-looking. Everything before this was a promise. This is the proof.

The 'pay what you want' paywall. 19 Plus and Pro features listed (weed ID, toxic ID, tree ID, insect ID, bird ID), 12 months at $3.33/mo, 7-day free trial then $39.99/yr. The 'pay what you want' framing is a gimmick over a standard annual-with-trial, but it reframes the ask as generosity.

Dismiss the full-price wall and the offer softens to '1st month $0.99, then $39.99/year.' A segmented second offer for people who balked once. Most people don't buy on the first paywall, so a cheaper entry picks up a chunk of them.

Second identification, a bur oak, this time a tree. Showing breadth beyond flowers, which backs up the 'any plant' claim from the first value card.
Picturethis onboarding screen 54: 'This plant looks healthy' with health insights54
'This plant looks healthy' with health insights. The diagnosis feature framed as reassurance. Even a healthy result gives you a reason to have scanned, and teaches you the app watches plant health, not just names.

A climate-specific tip using your location: 'Watch out for cold weather, your bur oak is dormant, reduce watering.' Personalization that's genuinely useful and tied to the exact plant you saved. This kind of ongoing value justifies a subscription better than any paywall copy.

'Your free 7-day premium hasn't been claimed yet, tap to claim.' A persistent banner on the home feed. Framing the trial as something you already own and are leaving on the table. Loss aversion instead of a hard sell.

Contextual paywall: 'Get full access, try 7 days free then $39.99/year, less than $0.11/day.' The per-day math shrinks the number. Firing from inside the app after you've used it converts better than the cold trial screen up front.
