'Hi! I'm Ginny. Ask me for AI-powered answers.' The AI tutor leads, ahead of the community. Brainly built its business on millions of students answering each other's homework, and here that's the fourth screen instead of the first. Worth watching as a repositioning: the moat was the community, the pitch is now the model.

Brainly onboarding screen 8: Five value prop screens, and JOIN FOR FREE stays pinned to the bottom of every one

8

Five value prop screens, and JOIN FOR FREE stays pinned to the bottom of every one. You can leave the carousel at any point rather than swiping to the end to find the button, which is how these should work and mostly don't.

Brainly onboarding screen 14: 'First, we need to know what to call you' with the username already filled in from the Google account

14

'First, we need to know what to call you' with the username already filled in from the Google account. One tap instead of a text field. Every prefilled field is a drop-off you don't have to pay for.

15

Country, age and 'How did you hear about Brainly?' on one screen, justified with 'We need this information to keep Brainly safe place'. The age question is a child-safety requirement, and attaching the reason to it is the difference between diligent and nosy.

Brainly onboarding screen 17: Self-reported attribution inside onboarding: TV ad, Friends, Social media, Family, Search engine

17

Self-reported attribution inside onboarding: TV ad, Friends, Social media, Family, Search engine. This is a growth team working around ATT. The data is noisy, but it's most of the channel read you still get on iOS, and it costs one tap in a flow the user is already committed to.

Brainly onboarding screen 18: 'Finally, tell us how you identify: I'm a student, I'm a parent.' A two-way fork that decides who the product…

18

'Finally, tell us how you identify: I'm a student, I'm a parent.' A two-way fork that decides who the product talks to from here on. Note it's the last question, asked after the account already exists, so the dropout cost is close to zero.

Brainly onboarding screen 20: 'Get Brainly Plus FREE for 7 days' with five benefits and a 'NO, THANKS' underneath

20

'Get Brainly Plus FREE for 7 days' with five benefits and a 'NO, THANKS' underneath. No price anywhere on the screen. Trial-first with the number withheld is a volume play: maximise trial starts and push the price objection into the App Store sheet, where the free framing is already doing the work.

Brainly onboarding screen 21: 'Need help with math?' with three input modes, type, photo, voice

21

'Need help with math?' with three input modes, type, photo, voice. Naming the subject in the prompt makes an empty state feel like it's already about you.

Brainly onboarding screen 22: The answer feed is full of real student questions with real working shown

22

The answer feed is full of real student questions with real working shown. Same move as Chegg in this batch, use the inventory as the proof. The difference is Brainly's inventory was written by other students, so it demonstrates the community at the same time.

28

Brainly onboarding screen 31: 'Do you want to close your session

31

'Do you want to close your session? If you exit now, you'll lose your progress and won't be able to recover anything you've added.' Loss aversion on an exit tap. It's honest here because the chat genuinely isn't saved, but this is the pattern that gets abused most often.

33

Brainly onboarding screen 35: Points, a BEGINNER rank, and 'NEXT RANK: HELPING HAND' with zero answers given

35

Points, a BEGINNER rank, and 'NEXT RANK: HELPING HAND' with zero answers given. The gamification points at answering other people's questions, not at your own learning. That's the supply side of a Q&A marketplace, and it's very cheap retention when it works.
