Signup is the third screen, before you've seen a single flashcard. Quizlet has the brand recognition to charge that toll, most apps don't. Notice 'Are you a teacher?' sitting inside the form: a segmentation question they need for routing, asked at the worst possible moment.

Quizlet onboarding screen 11: 'Almost done!' doing goal gradient work on a form that's two fields long

11

'Almost done!' doing goal gradient work on a form that's two fields long. Cheap way to lift completion. The birthday is a compliance requirement for an education app, not curiosity, which is why it's paired with 'This won't be visible to others'.

Quizlet onboarding screen 12: They show the trial timeline before they show a price

12

They show the trial timeline before they show a price. Today you get access, August 6 you get billed. Naming the charge date up front costs some conversions and buys back a lot of refund requests and one-star reviews. 'Continue using free Quizlet' underneath keeps the free tier honest.

Quizlet paywall with pricing, onboarding screen 13

13

Annual preselected at $35.99 against $7.99 monthly. Monthly works out to $95.88 a year, so annual reads as a 62% saving without them printing a single strikethrough. Letting the math do the anchoring is cleaner than a fake crossed-out price.

Quizlet onboarding screen 14: Notification ask framed as a benefit, 'personalized study reminders', rather than the system default

14

Notification ask framed as a benefit, 'personalized study reminders', rather than the system default. 'I'm in' is a better button than 'Allow'. Asking after the paywall is the right order: the money is already collected, this is retention insurance.

Quizlet onboarding screen 15: 'Here's how to get started' with three concrete actions instead of a blank home screen

15

'Here's how to get started' with three concrete actions instead of a blank home screen. Naming the tasks beats a tooltip tour. I'd test moving 'Create your own flashcards' to the top, since that's the real activation event and 'Add your school and courses' is admin.

Quizlet onboarding screen 17: Empty library with 'No flashcard sets' and no button to make one

17

Empty library with 'No flashcard sets' and no button to make one. If you've just paid and this is what you land on, that's a wasted first session.

18

Streaks introduced on the profile tab, behind a tap most new users won't make. Duolingo trained the whole category to expect a streak, so burying it here wastes the mechanic. I'd surface it on the day-two open instead.
