Paywalls in Botsi

In Botsi, a paywall functions as an in-app storefront, enabling users to explore and purchase products or subscriptions directly within your application. Paywalls are dynamically configurable, allowing you to modify their appearance and behavior without requiring app updates. This flexibility makes it easier to create targeted experiences for different user segments through placements.

Using Paywalls#

Paywalls are strategically displayed within your app using placements. A placement is a specific location or context in your app where a paywall is shown, allowing you to create targeted experiences based on user segments or app areas.

The usage of paywalls can impact:

  • Monetization: Offering in-app purchases and subscriptions to generate revenue.
  • User Engagement: Providing clear pathways for users to access premium features and content.
  • Personalization: Tailoring offers and content to individual user preferences.

Create a Paywall#

Creating a Paywall lets you display your in-app products in a storefront that encourages users to subscribe or purchase. Paywalls connect Products and Access Levels with the visual experience users see, and can be customized without app updates.

Before you start, make sure you have created a Product. See Products.

  1. Go to Paywalls & Products in the left sidebar and open the Paywalls tab.
  2. Click Create Paywall.
  3. Enter a name and a Paywall external ID.
  4. Click Add Product and select a Product. Adding an Offer for that Product is optional.
  5. If the paywall is built in your app or sourced outside Botsi, select Other Paywall. To use the Botsi Builder, select Use Botsi Builder, choose a template, and customize the layout.
  6. Click Create Paywall (or Save if you are finishing in the Builder).

Archive a Paywall#

Archiving keeps paywalls you no longer use safe without deleting them permanently, so your workspace stays easier to navigate.

  1. Go to Paywalls & Products in the left sidebar and open the Paywalls tab.
  2. Find the Paywall, open the kebab menu, and select Archive.
  3. Its state changes to Archived. You can restore it later if needed.
