Range bar: grey band = middle half of your peers, tick = their median, dot = your recommended price. The dashed line is Apple's default.

Gap = local price ÷ Apple's default for the same plan − 1. Built from public App Store prices (Education May 2026, Health & Fitness and Graphics & Design October 2026) and Apple's App Store Connect pricing matrix (October 2026). ≈ marks Apple defaults not exported from App Store Connect: inferred from the price most top apps charge for that US price, or estimated from the nearest exported prices.

Apply it to new subscribers only

App Store Connect can't lower a price without lowering it for your existing subscribers too. To give the new prices to new subscribers only, create a new subscription product with these prices in the same subscription group, at the same level as your current plan, and show it on your paywall. Keep the current product on sale so existing subscribers keep renewing at their price.

Start with one or two test countries, compare conversion and revenue per download over 2–4 weeks, then roll out to the rest.

Use it in Claude

Botsi Price Localization, as a Claude skill

Describe your app and paste your US prices. Claude picks the closest comparable apps for you, can start from prices you've already changed, and writes the App Store Connect steps and a CSV with territory codes. Upload the zip under Skills in Claude's settings, or unzip it into ~/.claude/skills for Claude Code.

What 71 top apps do with international prices

Apple's default isn't neutral

Converted back to dollars, Apple's defaults cost more than the US price almost everywhere: about 33% more in the UK and 26% more in the eurozone, partly because local prices include VAT.

Peers mostly cut, rarely raise

Across 71 top apps, plans priced below Apple's default outnumber those above it about 6 to 1. Raises are small, typically around 15%. AI and design apps localize least: most keep Apple's price everywhere except a few emerging markets.

Where the data is thin

Rows marked "thin data" have fewer than three comparable apps priced in that country. Widen your comparables or treat the result as a starting point to test.

App Store pricing by country

Apple's default prices and how top apps price in each country, by category.

How the localizer works

Where does the data come from?

Public App Store listings of the top in-app purchases for 71 US top-grossing apps (21 Education, 25 Health & Fitness, 25 Graphics & Design), collected in 20 countries: about 10,000 weekly, monthly and annual prices. Plan lengths come from plan names and public app pages, checked country by country where names were unclear. Credit packs and lifetime unlocks are left out.

What is Apple's default price?

When you set a US price, Apple fills in a price for every other country. These defaults come from App Store Connect's pricing matrix (October 2026). They're exact for $9.99, $29.99, $49.99, $79.99 and $99.99. For other US prices we use the local price most top apps charge for that US price (it matched Apple's exact default 97% of the time where we could check), or estimate from the nearest exact prices.

How is the recommended price chosen?

For each country we take how far your comparable apps sit from Apple's default (their median, cheaper quarter or pricier quarter, depending on the strategy), apply that gap to Apple's default for your US price, and round to a natural local price that Apple allows. Gaps under 10% keep Apple's default.

Does this tell me what converts best?

No. It shows what successful apps charge, which is a strong starting point for a price test, not a guarantee.
